January can be a bit of a downer – it’s cold, dark, and most of the time the weather is bleak (in England at least)! A good way of injecting some joy into your life this month is by amping up the glow in your makeup. I find that a bit of shimmer is an instant pick-me-up, so here are three of my favourite highlighter products to get you through the winter.
I bought the Topshop Highlighter in Horizon last summer on a whim and instantly fell in love. It has now become a firm favourite in my makeup bag and I always reach for it when I want my skin to have that sun-kissed summer glow. It’s more of a bronzing highlighter, and I sweep it all over my cheeks, being careful not to be too heavy-handed as it is a lovely buttery, pigmented powder. This is a beautiful product, and for a high street price, I’m very impressed.
Champagne Pop Highlighter by Becca is one of those cult products that everyone has been going on about for the past year or so – I finally decided to see what all the hype was about, and I would say it definitely lives up to its reputation. Its smooth texture blends onto the skin beautifully, and the golden apricot tones provide so much light and radiance. If you’re one of these people (like me) who likes your highlighter to be seen from miles away, this is the one for you.
I usually finish off my skin with MAC’s Extradimension Skinfinish in Show Gold, a subtle shimmery highlighter powder with a pink iridescent undertone. I think it looks gorgeous on top of any blush or bronzer, and, like the name suggests, gives an extra dimension to your face. I’m slightly obsessed with anything iridescent at the moment, so this is definitely going to be a staple in my makeup collection.
