I’ve been searching pretty much my whole adult life to find a foundation that actually works for my skin. I need it to have a bit of a glowy finish but not too shiny, give enough coverage without looking heavy, and last all day. And I think I’ve finally found the one! I’d never tried any Too Faced products before, mainly because they aren’t that easy to get hold of in the UK, but also because none of them really stood out to me until a friend highly recommended the Too Faced Born this Way foundation. So I went straight to Debenhams in Shepherds Bush Westfield to get one!
It’s an oil-free, medium-to-full coverage foundation that, instead of sitting on top of the skin, blends in beautifully, and smooths over pores and blemishes. My skin is far from perfect – I mean, it’s not horrendously spotty, but it is a bit bumpy in certain areas, and like everyone, I do get breakouts. Obviously this foundation isn’t going to fix that, but lots of other foundations I’ve tried tend to show up the blemishes more or sit in the pores, which I’ve found Born this Way doesn’t do.
The other thing I’ve found many other foundations do is after a few hours, they separate on my skin and end up sliding off halfway through the day. I work on a makeup counter, so I need my foundation to stay in place all day without having to touch it up, and that’s the main reason why I love this Too Faced one. I might need to powder it a bit throughout the day (the struggles of an oily-skinned girl), but other than that it stays on amazingly!
I got the shade Warm Beige, which is on the darker end of their 24-shade spectrum, and it is about three shades too dark for my face, but I wanted it to be darker because my face never seems to tan as much as my body. It always looks pretty orange when I first apply it but once blended out it looks fine, and gives my face more warmth. If I find that it’s too much like the colour of an actual orange, I just add a few drops of a lighter foundation and mix it in. I normally use a damp Beauty Blender, as I find they apply the foundation very naturally and give it an even finish.
I would say the finish is semi-matte, but maybe more on the side of glowy – it’s a nice thick liquid texture that gives you radiance but isn’t overly shiny and not greasy at all. The coconut water infusion and hyaluronic acid provide moisture, and rose extract gives the skin a lovely glow. I love that it has a glow but doesn’t make my skin feel super oily throughout the day, which is really hard to find in a foundation, especially for someone with oily skin. I would highly recommend this to all skin types, if you want a good coverage, long lasting foundation, and at £29 it’s a bargain for a higher-end brand!
Great post! In love with your photography and flatlays!💗
